Injured Hiker Rescued by Honolulu Fire Department from Sunset Pillbox Trail

The Honolulu Fire Department reported that they had successfully rescued an injured hiker from the Sunset Pillbox Trail on Tuesday night. According to the department’s official website, HFD sent six units and 17 people to the area after receiving a call for assistance at 6:31 p.m.

At 6:40 p.m., the first responders reached the trailhead and walked to the hiker. The injured person had an injury that prevented them from continuing without assistance when they were descending the trail. By 7:20 p.m., HFD staff located the hiker, performed a preliminary medical examination, and gave basic life support.

After receiving care on the spot, Air 1 flew the hiker to a nearby landing area. Emergency medical responders took over the hiker’s treatment at 7:55 p.m. All HFD members returned safely from the operation, which went off without a hitch.
