Ionia County Community Mobilizes in Search for Missing Man with Schizophrenia

Joseph Daniel Dean, 41, vanished after leaving his house last Sunday, and the people of Ionia County are working together to find him. According to FOX 17, Dean was last seen at his home off M-21 in Easton Township. Since leaving, his family has not been able to see or contact him.

Since Dean has been diagnosed with schizophrenia, it is thought that he is in a vulnerable state. According to WLNS’s description, investigators have stated that Dean is roughly five feet nine inches tall and weighs about 150 pounds. His physical characteristics, such as his brown eyes and hair, help the people recognize him.

Concern for Dean’s wellbeing is increased because of his mental health situation and lack of medicines. Authorities stressed in a statement obtained by WZZM 13 that “he takes medication for schizophrenia and he has not been taking his prescribed meds.”

Anyone with information or tips related to this case is urged to call the Ionia County Sheriff’s Office at 616-527-5737. You can also give information anonymously by calling 616-774-2345 to speak with Silent Observer.
