The Irving community is in mourning following the off-duty death of a local police officer in a motorcycle crash. TheIrving Police Departmentshared through social media that 38-year-old Officer Jerome Scholz lost his life in a multi-vehicle accident. “We are mourning the loss of one of our IPD brothers who died while off duty yesterday,” the department expressed. “Please keep our department, his friends and family in your thoughts and prayers as we grieve this tragic loss.”

According to the initial reports, the incident occurred on the 7800 block of Valley View Lane at Interstate Highway 635 in Irving, Last Friday, at approximately 4:40 p.m. Officer Scholz was riding his motorcycle when another driver failed to yield to right of way while turning, leading to the devastating accident. Scholz was promptly transported to a local hospital, where he passed away around 5:30 pm. TheIrving Police Departmentadded, “He was loved by so many and truly had a heart of a servant.”
