. During the court proceedings, details emerged about the text message exchange between Vang and the toddler’s mother, Katrina Baur, discussing the transfer of Elijah to Vang’s care for “disciplinary purposes.”

Evidence presented by Special Agents from the Wisconsin Department of Criminal Investigations helped to grimly piece together the events leading up to Elijah’s demise. Agent Eric Voland cited text messages which, as

To further lay bare the harrowing situation, Agent Justen Ragen brought to light a disturbing image of the child wearing a black blindfold. According to

, video surveillance also captured Vang depositing a black suitcase at St. Vincent de Paul’s – a suitcase that was later found to contain traces of Elijah’s DNA. Elijah was reported missing on February 20, with his skeletal remains only discovered months later on private property a few miles from Vang’s apartment. Vang faces severe charges, including physical assault of a child, causing death, hiding a corpse, and obstruction. His arraignment is scheduled for November 18.

Meanwhile, Katrina Baur is confronting her legal battles. Charged with chronic child neglect resulting in death, child neglect, and two counts of obstruction, Baur pleaded not guilty in October to the felonies and misdemeanors brought against her, as reported by
