Sewer system restoration in Kauai’s ‘Ele’ele community begins this weekend, so residents and guests should expect some small interruptions. According to the Department of Public Works Wastewater Management Division, the work is planned for Tuesday and Wednesday from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and will involve CCTV inspections and the restoration of the sewer collecting systems along Halewili Road and Huehu Road.
Traffic will still be impacted even if no lane closures have been announced. Although the roads will remain open, drivers are encouraged to drive slowly in the affected areas. Additionally, because flaggers will be present to enforce traffic control measures, drivers can anticipate some delays.
To avoid any possible delays, the public is urged to modify their travel schedules as necessary. The Department of Public Works has given a point of contact for those interested in learning more. According to their release, Donald Fujimoto of the Wastewater Management Division can be reached by phone at 808-241-4882 or by email at [email protected].
