Kekaha Commuters Alert as Two-Week Lane Closures Are Announced for Road Resurfacing

Lane closures are scheduled to affect everyday travel in the Kekaha region for over two weeks, so commuters and locals should prepare. The Department of Public Works, in partnership with Maui Kupono Builders, announced that, if weather permits, four roads in Kekaha will be closed to traffic on Monday through December 6. The closure will take place during weekdays from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Auku u Road, Akepa Road, Mamo Road, and Kiowea Road are the roadways that would be impacted. Residents of the region will only have partial access throughout the planned construction due to the restrictions, which are necessary for road resurfacing work. Since parking will not be permitted in the work zones and flaggers will be on hand to manage traffic, further preparation may be needed. In order to account for these changes, the public is encouraged to give themselves more time to get to their destinations.

Maui Kupono Builders can be contacted at 808-369-1800 by anyone with questions or concerns about the approaching infrastructure project. For anyone in the community who will be directly impacted by the work, Todd Ozaki of the County of Kaua I is also accessible to discuss issues at 808-241-4845. To keep the public informed, Kauai County provided this information in full.
