MUSKINGUM COUNTY, Oh. (DDN) – A three-car collision that occurred on Tuesday evening in Muskingum County resulted in the death of a man from Kentucky.
An eastbound semi-truck driven by James Mumaw, 53, of Chillicothe was traveling on Interstate 70 near the mile marker 146 in Hopewell Township at around 9:35 p.m. when it turned left off the highway, passed across the median, and collided with two vehicles traveling in the opposite direction.
As a result of the collision, the driver of one of the vehicles, Robert Rebitski, who was 26 years old and from Hebron, Kentucky, sustained fatal injuries and ultimately passed away, according to a community statement made by the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
As a passenger, George, Robert’s father, sustained less severe injuries than the other passengers. His ailment was not one that posed a threat to his life.

Aaron Powell, Sarah Powell, and two children were the occupants in the second vehicle, which had a total of four people. According to the notification, all of them were picked up and taken to Genesis Hospital with very minor injuries.
At the scene, assistance was provided by the National Trail Fire Department and Emergency Medical Services, the Licking Township Emergency Medical Services, Carrol’s Towing, Y-City Towing, B&H Towing, and the Ohio Department of Transportation.
Investigations into the crash are still ongoing at this time.
