Kidnapped Clayton Woman Found Dead in St Louis After Forced ATM Withdrawals and Shooting

The woman who was found shot in a north city alley was the same person who had been abducted from Clayton earlier that day, according to confirmation from the St. Louis Medical Examiner’s Office. Michelle Hampton, 37, was found in the Kingsway East area on the 4700 block of Greer Avenue, according to FOX 2 Now. Her death was ascribed to gunshot wounds, and officers discovered her body just after 11 a.m.

The St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department reports that 37-year-old Michelle Hampton was kidnapped at gunpoint on Whitburn Drive in Clayton at approximately 7:15 a.m. Samantha, her twin sister, saw the incident happen and chased after the kidnapper’s truck until the culprits opened fire on her vehicle on Euclid and Enright, where her kids were also. Thankfully, nobody was hurt. Mike Potter, Hampton’s brother, toldKSDK, “We were told by officers inside that they drove her around a couple different ATMs and made her withdraw money before they shot her five times in the head in the alley.”

Hampton’s nephew, Julius Cockrell, told News Nation that the family lost sight of Hampton’s kidnapper after a gunshot broke the windshield of their automobile close to Kingshighway and Delmar Boulevards. Although no suspects have been apprehended and no information about the culprit has been made public, Clayton and St. Louis authorities’ investigations have connected the kidnapping and murder as a targeted incident.

During her time at Beaver Industrial Supply in St. Louis, Michelle Hampton rose from a customer service position to become vice president of human resources. The timeframe and motivations behind the targeted crime are the main focus of the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department’s investigation into her kidnapping and murder.
