NEW YORK CITY, New Yo. (DDN) – A resident of Mountain View was taken into custody on suspicion of carjacking after reportedly threatening an individual with a pocketknife and fleeing the scene in the victim’s vehicle on Monday evening, as stated by the Mountain View Police Department.
At approximately 8:15 p.m. on February 3, dispatchers were alerted to a report of a stolen vehicle located in the 800 block of Church Street in the heart of Mountain View.
Upon the arrival of law enforcement, the victim recounted an encounter with an individual who brandished a pocketknife and insisted on obtaining the keys to his car. Authorities reported that the individual fled the scene in the car despite it having a flat tire.
At approximately 8:36 p.m. that evening, dispatchers were alerted to reports of unusual behavior occurring in the 200 block of E. Dana Street. A resident reported seeing a car with a flat tire close to his home.

Authorities found the car, which matched the description of the vehicle reported stolen earlier that evening, according to police.
Authorities found the individual close to the vehicle reported as stolen. Authorities reported that he was taken into custody on allegations of car theft, displaying a firearm, and violating parole conditions.
The individual has been taken into custody and is currently held at Santa Clara County Main Jail without the option for bail, as per county documentation.
