Knoxville SWAT Team Arrests Two During Drug Operation in Rocky Hill Neighborhood

Two people were arrested yesterday as a result of an operation by the Knox County Sheriff’s Office that focused on the Rocky Hill neighborhood of Knoxville. The 7000 block of Dogwood Drive, which has recently been plagued by events suggesting widespread drug use, was the site of the sweep. According to WATE, a number of agencies, including the Organized Retail Crime Unit and the Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) squad, converged on the address, which is prompting residents to become increasingly concerned owing to a wave of drug-related complaints.

In response to the community’s warnings, the search turned up 50-year-old Jackie Hunley, who was allegedly involved in keeping the disputed residence drug-free and in possession of associated items. Hunley has been charged with these offenses, and his arrest points to a more widespread use of these illegal acts in the home. Leslie Pilipovic, 45, was also taken into custody with her on a warrant, the details of which were not made public at the time, according to WBIR.

Further charges are expected to follow this probe, and the sheriff’s office has not yet halted its investigations, with the spokeswoman hinting at further developments. According to WILK, the people’s fear shed light on the harmful drug-related problems undermining the community’s health and represented a police response to a string of depressing neighbor reports, including overdoses.
