A recent kidnapping incident in Lake Havasu City has concluded with an arrest in Southern California. According to a press release from theLake Havasu City Police Department, two juveniles were reported kidnapped last Tuesday. Reacting to a call received at 8:11 PM, police officers arrived at the 3800 block of Bear Drive and learned that the father of the children, who did not possess custody rights, had taken them.
Attempts to locate the vehicle right after the disappearances fell short, but the Criminal Investigations Unit carried on with the search. As the investigation proceeded, detectives were able to determine that the father had taken the children to a family member’s home in Southern California. With the safety of the children a primary concern reported by the involved parties, officers dispatched at the location found them safe and unharmed.
Following these discoveries, Lake Havasu City authorities issued an arrest warrant for Kevin Walton, a 40-year-old city resident, on two counts of kidnapping. The warrant was entered into the National Crime Information Center database, triggering a search that ultimately involved the United States Marshals Service. Walton was arrested last Thursday.
Currently, Kevin Walton is held in custody, waiting to be extradited to Mohave County on the charges that were pinned on him. Public Information Officer Sergeant Kyle Ridgway can be contacted for further details at (928) 855-1171. As for the two juveniles, after a brief spell away from home, they have been safely returned, avoiding what could have escalated into a prolonged and potentially more harmful situation.
