The teacher, identified as Rashid Khan Mohagheghian of Bee Cave Elementary School, now faces a charge of injury to a child. After the complaint surfaced on October 29, the district placed him on administrative leave, during which the district police carried out their investigation leading to his arrest on Thursday morning, according to

The investigation was spurred by a classroom incident where Mohagheghian was seen in audio and video seizing the student by the arm and then being thrown onto the floor by him. Court records elaborate that following the fall, Mohagheghian shoved a table toward the student, who then had to dart away to avoid being hit, according to an arrest warrant affidavit. Wearing an attorney was not listed for Mohagheghian at press time, as indicated by the court records shown in a report by

Further descriptions from the affidavit reveal the teacher’s verbal altercation with the 6-year-old, calling the child “the devil” and suggesting “you need to go to church, nobody likes you.” This was before physically assaulting the student, causing a bruise from a ‘palm strike’ and leaving fingernail marks, as reported by
