Lake Travis ISD Special Ed Teacher Arrested and Charged with Injuring a Child in Bee Cave School Incident

A Lake Travis ISD Special Education teacher was taken into custody, facing allegations of assaulting a minor, as confirmed by the district to families in a letter. The teacher, identified as Rashid Khan Mohagheghian of Bee Cave Elementary School, now faces a charge of injury to a child. After the complaint surfaced on October 29, the district placed him on administrative leave, during which the district police carried out their investigation leading to his arrest on Thursday morning, according to

The investigation was spurred by a classroom incident where Mohagheghian was seen in audio and video seizing the student by the arm and then being thrown onto the floor by him. Court records elaborate that following the fall, Mohagheghian shoved a table toward the student, who then had to dart away to avoid being hit, according to an arrest warrant affidavit. Wearing an attorney was not listed for Mohagheghian at press time, as indicated by the court records shown in a report by

Superintendent Paul Norton, addressing the incident to Bee Cave Elementary families, stressed that such behavior “is completely unacceptable and does not align with the District’s values or our standards for professional, compassionate teaching.” Furthermore, Norton declared Mohagheghian’s absence from the school is guaranteed, as he “would not be returning.” The commitment to student well-being remains a priority, with Norton saying, “We remain committed to maintaining the highest level of care and oversight to ensure that every member of our LTISD family treats our students with respect and nurtures their well-being,” in a letter obtained by
