A 67-year-old lady was killed in a hit-and-run accident, and the Lakeland Police Department is currently looking for the driver responsible. Authorities are asking the public for any information that could result in an arrest following yesterday’s crash, which happened just after midnight. A car reported as a 2018–2022 Range Rover Sport 2, maybe gray or silver in color, struck Robin Brown, a pedestrian, as she crossed South Florida Avenue from Palmetto Avenue.
According to Lakeland officials, the Range Rover did not halt to provide assistance to Brown following the collision because it was heading south on South Florida Avenue. After being transported to Lakeland Regional Health, the victim passed away from her wounds from the event. Since then, the investigation has been taken over by the LPD’s Traffic Homicide Unit, which resulted in the road being temporarily closed for around four and a half hours in order to process the crime scene, according to WFLA.
After arriving on the scene promptly, first responders from Polk County Fire Rescue and the Lakeland Fire Department attempted to save Brown’s life but were unsuccessful. The Lakeland Police Department is asking anyone with knowledge to come forward as the investigation proceeds. According to both FOX 13 and the Tampa Free Press, tips can be made directly to Officer Camilo Almeida by email at [email protected] or by getting in touch with Heartland Crime Stoppers Florida.
Additionally, anonymous tips can be sent to Heartland Crime Stoppers via the Heartland Crime Stoppers website, by texting TIPS to 274637 (CRIMES), or by calling 1-888-400-TIPS (8477). In this instance, there can be a monetary incentive for information that results in an arrest.
