A climbing accident yesterday at Red Rock Canyon called for an urgent search and rescue operation after a climber fell and became unconscious, as per Las Vegas Metropolitan Police’s Search and Rescue (SAR) team. The climber, leading the well-known route “Marijuana” within Oak Creek in Red Rock, experienced a critical fall when their top piece of protection failed, sending them into a perilous flip ultimately resulting in unconsciousness for an estimated twenty minutes.

, a helicopter airlift was necessary, where SAR personnel was able “to hoist directly to the climbing party, treating their injuries, and extracting the subject and their partner.”

Following the on-site medical intervention, the injured party was transferred to a ground ambulance and moved to a local hospital for further treatment. The condition of the individual has not been released to the public so far. The LVMPDSAR Instagram post detailing the incident did not share additional details except the series of events leading up to the rescue.
