Las Vegas Homicide Suspect Captured Following Taxi Dashcam Breakthrough

A month-long investigation following a fatal shooting that occurred at a southern Las Vegas intersection has resulted in an arrest, partly due to dashcam footage from a nearby taxi. According to

, Keyun Watts, 25, was arrested on suspicion of open murder in connection with the death of 22-year-old Elvin Sejdinovic.

The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (LVMPD) discovered Sejdinovic’s vehicle crashed near Decatur Boulevard and Patrick Lane, after responding to multiple calls late on the night of October 5, 2024. An

report mentioned that the victim was found with two gunshot wounds to the chest and was later pronounced dead at UMC.

Detectives used evidence from street surveillance and taxi dashcam recordings to piece together the events leading up to the shooting. As per documents referenced by

, videos displayed a blue Chevrolet Camero without a rear license plate, which eventually led to the identification of Watts as the shooter. A detail that stood out was the car’s distinct stickers, which detectives linked to street “takeover” videos found online.

Watts was apprehended on Monday, and in a document obtained by

, he reportedly confessed to shooting Sejdinovic but claimed he did not know him prior. He told detectives that the confrontation at a red light escalated when the victim threw an object at his car and appeared to be reaching for something, prompting him to fire his gun. Following the incident, Watts removed the stickers from his vehicle and transported it to California, presumably to avoid detection.

While the LVMPD continues its investigation, a status check hearing is scheduled for Watts on Wednesday. He currently remains in custody at the Clark County Detention Center. Anyone with additional information relating to this case is encouraged by authorities to contact the LVMPD or Crimestoppers.
