The Las Vegas community is bidding farewell to K9 Arno, a Belgian Malinois who passed away at 13. Known for his explosive detection skills, Arno served alongside K-9 Officer Jeff Corbett for eight years, protecting citizens at public events. He joined the LVMPD K9 Section in October 2016, thanks to a donation from the Wynn Hotel, according to

Throughout his tenure, Arno was tasked with thousands of explosive sweeps, some of which occurred at high-profile events such as the Super Bowl, Formula 1 races, New Year’s Eve celebrations, and more. Not only did Arno’s service provide an essential security layer, but it also played a role in the reopening of the Las Vegas Strip post-COVID, ensuring a safe environment for visitors and locals alike. An LVMPD spokesperson highlighted that with the help of K9s like Arno, LVMPD has maintained its dedication to safety in their 24-hour entertainment city.
The LVMPD shared some personal notes on the beloved K9’s character and work ethic. “Arno was gentle and friendly, always ready for work. He loved loading up in the truck and driving all over town to serve the people of Las Vegas,” an official statement detailed, as
