Las Vegas Man, Cedric Hasan, Arrested and Charged in Connection with Over 30 Business Burglaries

The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (LVMPD) has arrested a man following a months-long investigation into a string of burglaries that have been plaguing local businesses since June along the Spring Mountain corridor and beyond.Cedric Hasan, 34, was arrested earlier last week and is connected to over 30 burglaries with losses over $100,000, according to News3LV.

Following a request for public assistance from the LVMPD and a $5,000 reward from the FBI for information that results in the arrest and conviction of the culprit or suspects, Hasan was taken into custody. Community suggestions and security images showing a suspect with a characteristic gait wearing a sweatshirt and big work gloves were part of these coordinated efforts. Despite these facts, investigators were unable to identify Hasan for a while, according to Hoodline.

Working closely with Metro Police at this time, the targeted companies and the impacted community played a crucial role in the investigation. “Let this be a reminder to anyone who thinks that they can prey on this community and commit crimes in this city,” said Deputy Chief Jose Hernandez, who underlined the need of working with local business owners. According to News3LV, “The LVMPD will pursue every lead in this investigation and leave no stone unturned.”

The people of Spring Mountain, especially those in the Chinatown area, where many of the crimes took place, can feel relieved about the arrest. The full extent of Hasan’s alleged offenses is still unknown, though, as authorities continue to look into the possibility of other, unidentified burglarized locations, according to KTNV.

Cedric Hasan is currently facing 34 charges of theft and is scheduled to appear in court tomorrow. The cooperation between law enforcement and the Las Vegas community was essential in stopping this burglary spree that has impacted more than 30 establishments along the corridor, even if it hasn’t been proven whether the prize money resulted in his capture.
