Earlier today, the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (LVMPD) reported an officer-involved shooting, marking the 13th such incident of the year 2024. According to an official press release from the

, officers responded to a call about a shooting on the 6900 block of Wine River Drive at roughly 12:40 a.m.

Upon arrival at the scene, officers heard sounds of distress coming from inside a nearby residence, prompting them to force entry by kicking in the door. Once inside, they discovered two individuals engaged in a physical dispute, one of whom was wielding a knife. After issuing verbal commands, which were ignored, the situation escalated rapidly, and an officer discharged their weapon, striking one of the individuals. Following the shooting, medical assistance was immediately provided to the wounded subject, and the second individual was detained.

The shot individual received further medical attention upon the arrival of emergency medical personnel and was transported to the University Medical Center, where they were later pronounced dead. LVMPD has withheld the involved officer’s identity, stating it will be released after the department’s standard 48-hour protocol.
