Las Vegas Metropolitan Police are in pursuit of a suspect after receiving reports of gunfire in the desert expanse of east Las Vegas, near a local school campus. According to

, the incident occurred around 7:52 a.m. today in the vicinity of Desert Inn Road and Hollywood Boulevard, where an individual was seen discharging a firearm into the sky.
No injuries have been reported in relation to the event, and officers have been combing the area in an effort to locate the person involved. The East Career Technical Academy, not far from the scene, saw increased police presence from both LVMPD and Clark County School District Police as schools were placed on secured status as a precautionary measure.

, the lockdown that had been put in place at East Career Technical Academy has since been lifted. Natasha Lerutte said in a letter to parents, “Out of an abundance of caution, our school was on a brief lockdown and then transitioned into Secure Mode this morning due to police activity in the area. The lockdown has been lifted and the school is no longer on secure mode. Classroom instruction continues and the school day will resume as normal.”
