Las Vegas Police Take Woman into Custody Following Westside Standoff After Reports of Gunfire

Before being arrested Friday night, a woman who had been firing a firearm in a west Las Vegas area locked herself inside a house.A portion of El Capitan Way was blocked off from Debonair Lane to Saddle Avenue after the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department responded to an incident near Flamingo Road and El Capitan Way at approximately 3:30 p.m., according to FOX5 Vegas. The woman was reportedly firing a handgun outside her home.

When the woman refused to leave her house, the scene became more heated, and SWAT was called in. Throughout the investigation, it was unclear exactly what she had done.The standoff was amicably resolved around 9 p.m., according to News3LVlater, and the culprit was apprehended after a few hours. Roads reopened, bringing normalcy to the local population.

The woman’s identify and any possible charges against her have not yet been made public by the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police. Investigations are still ongoing into the reason behind the initial firearm discharge.
