League City Rallies with Food Drives and Toy Donations to Brighten Holidays for Needy Families

Now that the holidays have here, League City is full of chances to show kindness. Local programs are offering ways to cheer up your neighbors if you’re trying to play Santa to someone in need.

Through this Friday, the League City Fire Department and Interfaith Caring Ministries will be holding a food drive. Donations of non-perishable, unexpired food items are welcome at the Fire Administration Office located on West Walker Street. Donations of gravy mix, cornbread mix, and other holiday staples are encouraged in order to improve the lives of many people and assist fill the local pantry, which is crucial for our community’s less fortunate residents.

In addition, the League City Police Department is getting ready for the Shop With a Cop/Firefighter event, which is part of the Blue Santa program and will happen in less than three weeks. The League City release states that Blue Santa is now collecting cash donations and Target gift cards, which will enable approximately 100 kids from about 30 families to choose presents with the help of local firefighters and police personnel.

New, unwrapped toys are being welcomed until December 5 at places including City Hall and the Helen Hall Library as part of the ongoing Community Toy Drive. To ensure a meaningful holiday experience, Interfaith Caring Ministries will gather the toys and utilize them to stock a “toy store” where needy parents may buy gifts for their kids.
