(CBS DETROIT)A 72-year-old man was died in an August drunk driving accident, and a 38-year-old Tecumseh woman has been charged in connection with the incident.
According to Michigan State Police, at approximately 9:30 p.m. on August 14, 2024, Holly Schmidt collided with a northbound GMC Terrain while driving a southbound Jeep Wrangler on Tecumseh Clinton Highway.
The crash claimed the life of the driver, a 72-year-old Clinton resident. Survival Flight had to transport his passenger, a 75-year-old Clinton woman, to the University of Michigan Hospital after she suffered severe injuries in the collision.
Schmidt reportedly cooperated with the investigations and was only slightly hurt in the collision, according to the police.
Schmidt was taken into custody without incident on Wednesday after a months-long investigation and is being held at the Lenawee County Jail.
One count of operating while intoxicated causing death and one count of operating while intoxicated causing serious harm were the charges against her when she was arraigned on Thursday. Schmidt was given a bail of $75,000.
