Despite never having met in person, two suspected murderers in Floridad told a local TV station how one of them pregnant the other while they were both in prison.
Inside the Miami-Dade County Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation, inmates Daisy Link, 29, and Joan Depaz, 23, spoke to local Fox affiliate WVSN. Link is accused of killing her husband in 2022 and is now facing second-degree murder charges. However, past Christmas, she called her family to inform them that she became pregnant while incarcerated at Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center. In June, she gave birth to the baby girl. The infant is being raised by family members.
Link earlier informed her family that the prisoner pregnant her by putting his semen through an air conditioner vent wrapped in plastic wrap. Link and the father, Depaz, went into further detail about what transpired in the WVSN interview. According to Link, she began communicating with Depaz via their cells’ air conditioning vents.
After spending so much time alone, you start chatting to this individual for hours on end, to the point where it feels like you’re in the same room as them, she added.
After they fell in love, Depaz then declared his want to become a father. It might be a long time, if ever, before he gets free, he thought, given that he is incarcerated on a first-degree murder conviction. Thus, the two came up with a scheme. They said they bound bed linens together and slid them into their cells through the vents.
Depaz told the TV station, “I put the semen in Saran Wrap five times a day for about a month straight.”
Said Link: He would kind of like roll it up almost like a cigarette and he would attach it to the line that we had in the vent and I would pull it through. From there, I had placed it inside of, you know, the yeast infection applicators? Yes, I administered it after my placement within that location.
And just like that, the pair claim, she became pregnant.
The two seemed proud of their feat.
She s a miracle baby, she s a blessing, Link said.
When asked if he ever physically touched Link, Depaz went Biblical.
Never, like the Virgin Mary, he said.
According to the TV station, the jail is still investigating how this all transpired.
As Law&Crimepreviously reported, Link allegedly shot her husband in the leg outside their Homestead home on June 25, 2022.
I think I hit a major artery; you ll be fine, a videoreportedly showsLink saying to the husband, who later died.
Details about Depaz s case were not immediately available.
Both remain in jail awaiting their trials.
