(CBS DETROIT) Last week, a Detroit Lions fan lost his season tickets as a consequence of a verbal altercation with Green Bay Packers head coach Matt LaFleur off the field.
Fahad Yousif, who had a season ticket, was permitted to hold the American flag during the playing of the national anthem during the Detroit game on December 5. LaFleur was observed yelling at Yousif as he was on the field, where Yousif said he was trash-talking to some Packers players.
“I started trash-talking the other team, so I get that, but I really don’t think getting to this level was necessarily warranted,” Yousif stated.
At halftime, Yousif was asked to leave after being pulled from his seat due to the on-field disturbance. He claimed that the Lions organization emailed him on Monday to inform him that his season tickets had been canceled.
“It was awful, and at first I didn’t believe it was genuine. It sucks to have my tickets fully revoked and to never be able to use my season ticket again. “It’s really painful,” Yousif remarked.
Yousif added that in addition to forfeiting his season tickets, he will not be allowed to go to any NFL games until he finishes a $250 online course on code of conduct.
“I think all of it has been blown out of proportion and I am not trying to discredit what I did by any means, It’s a shame that I won’t be able to get in there and see them in person anymore,” Yousif stated.
