A routine car stop in Livermore resulted in two arrests, hundreds of potentially fatal doses of fentanyl, and more than just a fix-it ticket. The narcotics were taken from a local pharmacy. The Livermore Police Department posted information about the event on social media, stating that the first cause was a malfunctioning brake light on a gold Toyota Avalon.
The aforementioned car was quickly stopped by officers close to the intersection of First Street and Mines Road. The search that would reveal the alarming haul, which included cash in different denominations, methamphetamine, Xanax, a meth pipe, a digital scale, and 100 unused small baggies—all suggestive elements of a drug sales operation that ended in the containment of 965 lethal doses of fentanyl—was authorized by Charles Golonko, a 37-year-old passenger with an active misdemeanor warrant, at 4:15 p.m.
The results led to several charges against Golonko, who now faces a growing list of charges from the criminal justice system, including possession with intent to sell, transportation and sale of drugs, and transportation of a controlled substance. The driver, 29-year-old Cassandra Cornutt, was also not exempt from the legislation; her record is tainted by three felony warrants that are still pending and impersonation charges related to her attempts to mislead the responding police.
