Livonia dealership has license suspended, accused of leasing used vehicles as new

(CBS DETROIT) A Livonia car dealership’s license has been revoked for allegedly leasing used cars as brand-new.

LaFontaine Motors of Livonia Inc., also known as LaFontaine Hyundai of Livonia, had its license stopped by the Michigan government of State (MDOS) due to “imminent harm to the public,” the government announced in a news release.

The company, which is situated at 34715 Plymouth Road in Livonia, is charged with several offenses under the Michigan Vehicle Code, including fabricating paperwork to pass off a used car as brand-new.

The dealership is charged by the state with the following infractions:

“These violations created an ongoing imminent threat to the public health, safety or welfare of the public, requiring emergency action,” officials stated.

The Michigan Attorney General’s Office may be referred to the case after MDOS reviews it.

LaFontaine Automotive Group has been contacted by CBS News Detroit for comment.
