Earlier this week, a fire erupted in the Koreatown neighborhood of Los Angeles, affecting two detached garages on South Gramercy Place. According to information provided by the

Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD)

, the blaze was reported at 4:23 PM at 849 S Gramercy Dr., where heavy smoke was observed coming from a two-story craftsman house. Fire crews quickly entered offensive mode in response to the incident.

In a rapid display of efficiency, it took only about 15 minutes for 26 firefighters to completely extinguish the fire. The

LAFD’s update

noted that the exposed buildings were able to be successfully defended, with no damage reported to them. However, one power pole did sustain direct flame impingement, leading to the involvement of the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power (LADWP). No injuries were reported during the firefighting efforts.

The

LAFD’s knockdown report

indicated that the incident occurred at 856 S Gramercy Pl., correcting the initial address given. The discrepancy between the initially reported and the corrected locations underscores the often chaotic nature of emergencies, where accurate information can be a casualty in the rush to respond and inform.

Multiple units, including Battalion Chiefs 11 and 18, Engine Companies 13, 226, and 229, along with Rescue Ambulances 29 and 826, were dispatched to the scene. The incident was managed under the Central Bureau’s jurisdiction, within Council District 5.
