Los Angeles Mayor’s Initiative Successfully Moves Over 35 Individuals from Encampments to Safer Spaces

, more than 35 individuals from encampments in Rampart Village and nearby areas were moved into safer spaces, marking a significant stride in the city’s efforts to restore neighborhoods and save lives.

In collaboration with Councilwoman Heather Hutt and Councilmember Hugo Soto-Martínez, the initiative was actively able to engage and relocate people who were otherwise exposed to the elements and insecure conditions of street living. “Our work to save lives continues with absolute urgency. coincided with response efforts conducted near Virgil Middle School and Shatto Park, where the Inside Safe Field Intervention Team has worked diligently to build trust and provide supportive services to unhoused Angelenos. This approach has led to over 3,000 individuals being placed in more stable living situations. Councilmember Soto-Martínez emphasized the impact of these operations, expressing gratitude for the joint efforts: “Thanks to our work today with Mayor Bass, Councilwoman Hutt and their teams, dozens of residents now have a safe place to sleep tonight and are on their way to receiving the help they need and deserve.”
