In a recent report from Montgomery County, a murder-for-hire plot has been thwarted, leading to the arrest of two women. 53-year-old Adelaida Consuelo Zacarias Chacon of Germantown, and 40-year-old Reyna Gomez Lopez of Philadelphia have been charged with first-degree conspiracy to commit murder, according to the Montgomery County Department of Police – Major Crimes Division.

The case began when a case worker at the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office Family Justice Center was alerted, to the alleged scheme. The case worker passed on information that Zacarias Chacon had reportedly sought a hitman to kill her ex-boyfriend. Detectives delved into the case and discovered exchanges between Zacarias Chacon and Gomez Lopez, who is reportedly her former sister-in-law. The investigation revealed that Zacarias Chacon had transferred $1,000 to Gomez Lopez as payment to locate someone willing to carry out the murder.

Evidence of the bank transfer that was made to secure the hit was uncovered during the investigation. In a coordinated effort, the Montgomery County Task Force Officers, part of the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force, apprehended both suspects. The details of the arrests were specified in a press release issued by the police department.

Zacarias Chacon is confronting charges of first-degree conspiracy to commit murder and first-degree solicitation to commit murder, and she remains at the Central Processing Unit pending a bond hearing. Gomez Lopez, meanwhile, has been charged with first-degree conspiracy to commit murder and is awaiting extradition to Montgomery County. The Montgomery County Department of Police credits the astute observations of the case worker at the Family Justice Center for the initial tip that led, to the unfolding of this alleged murder-for-hire plot.
