ORANGEBURG, S.C. (DDN) – According to the South Carolina Highway Patrol, an arrest has been made based on the description of a vehicle involved in a hit-and-run in Orangeburg County.
Lance Cpl. Brittany Glover announced that a suspect has been arrested in connection with the deadly auto-pedestrian collision in which the driver of a 2014-2017 white Infiniti Q-50 fled the scene.
The crash occurred at 11 p.m. Sunday but was not reported until nearly 8 a.m. Monday. Ricky Jamison, 62, of Orangeburg, was pronounced dead at the site of the accident.
The driver of the Infiniti was driving south on Belleville Road near Cherry Lane when he collided with the victim.
Glover said the driver went south near Chestnut Street.
Troopers published specifics about the vehicle on Tuesday, stating that it likely had front-end damage on the passenger side.
Troopers have yet to announce the identity of the man they detained, as well as any information about the investigation and what led to the arrest.
