Man Arrested Following Attack on GJ Reporter

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. — A frightening incident involving a KKCO/KJCT reporter took place nearly two weeks ago, when that reporter was followed and assaulted outside of their station.

WesternSlopeNow has been provided with the arrest affidavit of Patrick Egan, 39, who tailed the reporter from Delta to Grand Junction on Dec. 18, making statements to the effect of “Are you even a U.S. citizen? This is Trump’s America now! I’m a Marine and I took an oath to protect this country from people like you!”

Egan had been behind the wheel of a Sunshine Rides taxicab in Delta when he spotted the marked news car. Following it to the KKCO/KJCT station where he assaulted the reporter, putting them in a headlock with the intent to make them go unconscious.

Egan was taken to the Mesa County Jail on the following charges.

Assault in the second degree
Bias-motivated crimes
Harassment
