Man Arrested for Alleged Trespassing and Assault on Seattle Police Officers in University District

In the University District of Seattle, a guy was taken into custody on suspicion of assaulting police officers, resisting arrest, and criminal trespassing. The SPD Blotter states that the altercation that resulted in the man’s arrest happened Tuesday afternoon.

Officers were called to the location at around 10:48 p.m. on Tuesday after receiving complaints of a guy sleeping inside an empty apartment on the 4200 block of 9th Avenue Northeast while surrounded by drug paraphernalia. After the police found the suspect in one of the bedrooms, they made an effort to contact him. The man fought to disobey the cops’ orders and resisted their attempts to detain him as their conversation swiftly turned into a physical altercation.

Officers successfully used a taser to subdue and arrest the offender during the confrontation. He is accused of assault, resisting arrest, and criminal trespass. The 38-year-old man also had two arrest warrants for criminal trespass and reckless burning that were still pending.

The suspect was booked into the King County Jail after the arrest. Since then, the Homicide & Assault Unit of the SPD has been assigned to look into this case more thoroughly. Detectives are currently investigating the events leading up to the first trespass and the subsequent altercation with the cops.
