The St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department (SLMPD) said that one man was critically injured after violence broke out outside a club in the Soulard neighborhood Friday night. At around 10:00 p.m., District 3 officers discovered a 50-year-old man with a gunshot wound to his leg in the 1000 block of Sidney.

Before EMS arrived on the scene, the victim was promptly treated to by the cops, who applied a tourniquet, according to the police. The injured individual was taken to a nearby hospital after receiving the police’ initial medical care. The person is listed in serious condition, and their identity has not yet been made public until family members have been notified.

According to the SLMPD’s first investigation, the shooting was the result of a fight that began inside the bar. The altercation reportedly became more heated as both guys left the bar, becoming combative. At this moment, the other man—whose name has not been revealed—drew a gun and shot the 50-year-old man in the leg.

Detectives from District 3 are currently conducting more investigation into the events leading up to the confrontation and subsequent shooting.
