Man Faces Open Murder Charge After Fatal Stabbing on East Lake Mead Boulevard in Las Vegas

As yet another act of violence claimed a life, tragedy rocked the East Lake Mead Boulevard community. The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (LVMPD) said that a stabbing incident that happened last Tuesday morning resulted in a man’s fatal injuries. After being taken to UMC Hospital by emergency personnel, the man passed away from his wounds.

Jose Escamilla, age 33, was identified as the suspect in the tragic incident shortly after the LVMPD began their investigation. It was found that Escamilla and the victim had a physical confrontation during which Escamilla injured the victim with a knife before fleeing on foot. Law enforcement moved quickly the next day, when Escamilla was found and taken into custody by the Criminal Apprehension Team. He was then booked into the Clark County Detention Center on an open murder charge.

The FBI, LVMPD, and local police departments are among the authorities that collaborate with this hardworking task force, the Criminal Apprehension Team, to apprehend those who are suspected of committing major crimes.

The responsibility of identifying the victim and determining the cause and manner of death after the inquiry is complete has been taken on by the Clark County Coroner’s Office. Police are urging anyone with information on the event to come forward in the interim. You can do this by getting in touch with the LVMPD Homicide Section or, if you would prefer anonymity, by contacting Crime Stoppers.
