Man Sentenced to 31 Years for Shooting Safeway Security Guard in San Francisco, Second-Degree Robbery Conviction

Following a jury trial, Andre Brown, age 52, has been given a 31-year to life sentence in state prison for the 2022 shooting of a Safeway security guard, San Francisco District Attorney Brooke Jenkins announced. Convicted of second-degree robbery among other charges, the Superior Court ruling was handed down by Judge Christine Van Aken.

The attack took place on October 29, 2022, when Brown, after robbing items including Nutella, shot the security guard who pursued him as he left the store. The guard sustained a gunshot wound in the groin area, Brown was apprehended shortly after on a Muni Bus, according to a

San Francisco District Attorney’s press release.

Mr. Brown’s criminal history includes two prior strikes for attempted second-degree robbery and second-degree robbery. “Mr. Brown has been convicted of numerous violent crimes and will now face consequences for his criminal behavior,” District Attorney Brooke Jenkins stated, as per the

. The verdict and subsequent sentencing reflect the gravity of Brown’s offences and provide justice for the injured victim.

The case was successfully prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Yuri Chornobil, with assistance from paralegal Aareona Mills and IT support from Noaeh Pinaire. Victim Advocate Issac Baron also played a crucial role offering support to the victim throughout the trial process.
