Constructed in 1926, coinciding with the birth of future Hollywood icon Marilyn Monroe, the lavish Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel shot to fame when it hosted the first Academy Awards ceremony in 1929.

Its visitor book has amassed an incredible roster of stars throughout the years, including Clark Gable, Carole Lombard, and Monroe.

Since then, the hotel has renamed the opulent room the Marilyn Suite and decorated it with mementos and furnishings in honor of the sadly deceased star.

You can check into the room and maybe even have Monroe join you if you want to live it up like a movie star.

There are other visitors besides Marilyn Monroe who are rumored to be permanently booked into the hotel. Montgomery Clift, Monroe’s former costar, is said to haunt the ninth level of the hotel.

Clift stayed in Room 928 when “From Here to Eternity” was being filmed. Following his passing, visitors claimed to have seen the movie star’s specter stroll the corridors and to have heard the eerie notes of him playing his bugle late into the night.

Another former Hollywood star rumored to wander the hotel is Errol Flynn. It is said that his ghost has been seen hanging out by the piano next to the Blossom Ballroom, wearing all black.

On Halloween night, the hotel has a Halloween party where you can dance the night away with the ghosts of The Hollywood Roosevelt. You can purchase a $100 general admission ticket or a $225 VIP ticket that grants you entry to the hidden Library Bar.

The occasion offers the chance to party with Clark Gable in addition to Monroe. The penthouse suite on the hotel’s top level was formerly held by the famed leading man and his wife, actress Carole Lombard, yet there have been no reports of sightings of Gable’s ghost.
