According to official announcements from Mayor Bill Collins, City Hall offices will be closed on Thursday and Friday, November 28 and 29, and residents are being advised to modify their operations accordingly.

Not to mention the change, City Hall offices will go through its early closure procedure on Wednesday, November 27. The Municipal Court office and the Utility Billing office will close at 2:00 p.m. as part of the “offices in City Hall will be observing their weekly early closure day,” according to the City of Marion’s official website.

On Thursday, there will be no yard waste, recycling, trash, or leaf collection as sanitation services will be suspended. In an effort to be more efficient, the Sanitation and Streets Department creates a double-duty Friday, returning to work for the collections on both days. Residents who usually wheel their bins out on Thursdays are encouraged to have collections at the curbside by 7:00 a.m. on Friday, according the official statement from the City of Marion. On that date, leaf collection will also resume.

Bus passengers should be aware: On Thanksgiving day and the Friday after, Marion Area Transit will be suspended and not operate. On Monday, December 2, regular routes and schedules will resume. Dialysis transport will be the only exception, offered on Friday only, as the Marion Senior Center also intends to close on these dates in accordance with the city’s general reduction in operations.
