Marion Contractor Ryan C. Needels Sentenced to 10 Years for Defrauding Ohio Clients Over $500k

As reported earlier this week by Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost’s office, Ryan C. Needels, a native of Marion and the former owner of Clear View Construction, is beginning a seven-year prison sentence after being found guilty of stealing more than half a million dollars from his clients.

Needles was charged last year with defrauding 21 clients in nine counties and collecting large down payments for unfinished construction projects. Now that justice is finally coming up with him, he has admitted to 23 counts of theft, telecom fraud, and unethical activities. According to Ohio Attorney General Dave Yosts, “outright theft from hardworking Ohioans is a sure way to invite legal action from my office,” highlighting the state’s dedication to consumer protection.

The economic mischief was discovered by the Attorney General’s Economic Crimes Unit after meticulously tracking down Needels’ transactions between June 2021 and October 2022. It was discovered that he made great use of social media as a lure to entice his unsuspecting victims, obtaining large advance payments for unbuilt garages and pole barns.

Needels’ sentence is further compounded by a two-year penalty for violating the conditions of his probation, which was connected to earlier fraud cases in Delaware County, Ohio. Residents can reach the Attorney General’s Office via phone at 800-282-0515, or via their website at OhioProtects.org, if they think Needels may have defrauded them.
