Marquette University Event Draws Hundreds to Discuss Youth Mental Health and Resilience in Milwaukee

Over 500 people attended the “One Thing I Wish You Knew” event at Marquette University s Alumni Memorial Union. The event featured high school students sharing personal mental health experiences. Hosted by Friendship Circle and REDgen, it aimed to raise awareness about mental health issues among young people. Attendees also had the chance to learn about local mental health resources, including the Wisconsin Office of Children’s Mental Health and Milwaukee Children s Community Mental Health Services, as reported byJournal Sentinel.

According to a statement fromWISN, the event included a resource/vendor fair and a dessert buffet. It was recommended for individuals aged 13 and older, featured a TED talk format, and took place at 4 p.m. in the Monaghan Ballroom on the University s campus.

At an event in Port Washington, 16-year-old Hannah spoke about losing her mother in early 2021, which led to a period of deep depression. The event also focused on resilience and the support available to help.
