Marvin’s Marvelous Mechanical Museum to remain open, finds new location

(CBS Detroit) West Bloomfield Township, MichiganThe fun is continuing at a popular arcade.

After surviving demolition at its current location in Farmington Hills, Marvin’s Marvelous Mechanical Museum will be moving to a new facility in West Bloomfield Township.

Since 1990, they have inhabited that area.

Visitors to Marvin’s Marvelous Mechanical Museum discover far more than just standard arcade games. This is essentially a journey into the past that will persist into the future.

Here, “retro” means something very different.

In addition to all of the current video games, we have items from the late 1890s and games from the 1970s that so many people grew up with. “There’s something for everyone in here,” owner Jeremy Yagoda said.

In February, the Farmington Hills City Council decided to demolish the structure that currently houses the family business at 14 Mile Road, leaving them with an uncertain future.

“I had to enlarge. Since expansion was not an option here, I had to develop the company in order to do things we had always wanted to do but never had the chance to,” Yagoda stated.

They have three times as much space at their new home in Orchard Mall, which is only a mile north, and there is more than enough room for all the items they have accumulated over the years.

“A few private party rooms will be available. In addition to introducing a few new, exciting attractions and other things for people to do, we will be able to spread things out a lot more,” Yagoda stated.

The last day at the current site before they begin moving for their new house is January 5.

“I’m merely attempting to follow my father’s example. I’m making an effort to maintain it. I have no desire to change. The antiques and such are what make us special, therefore I don’t want to get rid of them,” Yagoda remarked.

According to him, the company intends to take a few days off after closing its Farmington Hill location. An opening date for the new store in West Bloomfield Township is still being worked out, he says.
