Mashpee Man Sentenced to Over 6 Years for Fentanyl and Cocaine Distribution in Cape Cod

A resident of Cape Cod was sentenced to more than five years in jail for a string of drug charges, mostly including the use of cocaine and other lethal drugs like fentanyl and its analogs. Terrance Cardoza, 28, of Mashpee, will be sentenced to 78 months in prison and four years of supervised release, according to a ruling by U.S. District Court Judge Indira Talwani.

Cardoza was found guilty and sentenced after entering a guilty plea in July, admitting to his involvement in the distribution of large amounts of drugs. One count of distribution and possession with intent to distribute 40 grams or more of fentanyl, two counts of distribution and possession of 10 grams or more of a fentanyl analogue, and one count of intended distribution of 500 grams or more of cocaine were among his charges, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office.

During 2023, Cardoza sold these drugs to a confidential source on multiple occasions in June, July, September, and November in the Falmouth and East Falmouth regions. It culminated in January when Cardoza was taken into custody by police, who found roughly 758 grams of cocaine in his car—a clear indication of the scope of his enterprise.

These developments were announced today by Acting Special Agent in Charge Stephen Belleau and Acting United States Attorney Joshua S. Levy of the Drug Enforcement Administration’s New England Field Division. Assistant U.S. Attorney J. Mackenzie Duane of the Narcotics & Money Laundering Unit led the case, and the Falmouth, Mashpee, and Yarmouth Police Departments were acknowledged for their vital involvement.

The Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces (OCDETF), a collaborative initiative aimed at breaking up elite criminal syndicates that endanger public safety nationwide, launched a larger sweep that included the investigation against Cardoza. In the continuous fight against drug trafficking and related crimes, OCDETF’s cooperative, multi-agency, intelligence-driven initiatives highlight its critical role.
