Massachusetts Society for the Prevention of Cruelty of Animals-Angell is heartbroken to share that Willie, the 2–year-old little poodle mix found on the side of Route 495 last week, took a sudden turn for the worse last night and had to be humanely euthanized.
After a week in the ICU receiving round-the-clock care with every possible intervention, his health went downhill, and he became severely distressed. Despite the team’s efforts, his condition continued to deteriorate, and they made the difficult but compassionate decision to let him go peacefully.
MSCPA-Angell issued the following statement:
“This is not the outcome we hoped for. But we’re grateful he spent his final days surrounded by people fighting hard for him and showing him love.
“We’re not able to share any updates about his ownership at this time, but we know how many of you were rooting for Willie. Thank you for keeping him in your thoughts and for supporting the work that makes it possible for animals like him to have a chance.”
Willie was found emaciated, a bit matted, and extremely dehydrated. He also had some signs of nervous system impairment.
