Memphis Police Searching for Suspect in Credit Card Theft at University of Tennessee Health Science Center

The Memphis Police Department is on the lookout for a woman accused of stealing several credit cards from the University of Tennessee Health Science Center’s pharmacy building. The theft, which took place last Tuesday morning, quickly transitioned from a breach of campus security to a shopping spree at the local Sam’s Club, where the stolen cards were used.

According toAction News 5, the individual, who was caught on surveillance video, reportedly took the credit cards before 10 a.m. from the medical school’s campus. Clad in work attire and an ID badge, she was seen driving off in a white sedan after the incident. Shortly afterward, still dressed as if coming straight from a place of employment, she piloted the vehicle to Sam’s Club and made purchases with the stolen cards.

In the wake of the incident, the woman’s image has been circulated by the MPD in hopes that someone will recognize her and come forward. The pictures released by MPD, as perWREG, disclose the suspect inside UTHSC and later at Sam s Club, where she is alleged to have made about $1,700 worth of purchases with the stolen cards.

TheMemphis Police Departmenttook to its Facebook page to provide details on the burglary and give contact information for anyone who might have leads on the suspect’s identity. “On November 12, 2024, at 9:43 a.m., officers responded to the UTHSC Campus regarding a theft of property complaint,” the post stated, noting that the suspect later “went to Sam’s Club at 7475 Winchester Road and used the stolen credit cards to make a purchase.” Despite their role of maintaining public safety, the incident proves that the Memphis Police Department is also entrusted with responding to the unpredictable specter of crime ripping through even the most secure of our community’s institutions.
