The officer at that juncture, was conducting traffic control on Overton Park to aid a Memphis Light, Gas and Water work crew, and had activated the vehicle’s blue lights, according to

. The collision resulted in the officer being trapped and sustaining serious injuries, encompassing fractures to his pelvis and tailbone, necessitating a 10-day hospital stay.
