Metairie Woman Sentenced to 7 Years for Probation Violation in Case Involving Illicit Relationship With Minor

Crystal Coleman, 41, was given a seven-year jail sentence by a Jefferson Parish judge for breaking her probation. Coleman had already entered a guilty plea to charges involving an inappropriate interaction with a youngster who was 15 years old. She went to St. Tammany Parish to try to meet the teen, even though she was not allowed to contact him, according to court documents. At an event, the boy’s father later identified her, according to FOX 8 Live.

Coleman was first taken into custody in August 2023 on suspicion of felony carnal knowledge of a youngster and indecent behavior with kids. Her seven-year sentence was suspended in favor of probation, with the requirement that she not speak to the adolescent. She has now violated the protective order three times, most recently in this event. Judge Nancy Miller apologized for her previous judgment to award leniency after considering the petition to revoke her probation, NOLA explains.

Coleman’s lawyer made an argument for the extension of probation during the revocation hearing, pointing to her obligations to her young daughter. “She put everything on the line to go ahead and violate the protective order,” Judge Miller said, underscoring the gravity of the infraction, according to FOX 8 Live. This ruling comes after Coleman consistently disregarded the court’s directive to safeguard the case’s minor.

“She pleaded guilty to two charges of violating those orders and the indecent behavior charge,” according toWDSU News. Now that she has not complied with the requirements imposed by the court following her sentence, her case continues.
