On Monday, temperatures are all over the place.
The majority of rain is expected to fall this morning due to temperatures that are above the average for this time of year; however, there are a few outliers. There is a mixture of snow and rain that is occurring in the vicinity of Port Huron, Pigeon, and Port Austin for your morning commute.
A new record was set by the rain that fell yesterday. Rainfall of 1.43 inches, surpassing the previous record of 1.34 inches, which had been established in 1940.
There is a steady movement of low pressure linked with that rain toward the north, which is increasing the wind speed today, which is between 15 and 20 miles per hour and gusty.
The temperature this afternoon is still above the average, at 45 degrees, but it is anticipated that colder air will move in overnight, bringing the readings down to a level that is very close to freezing.
This will be a significant factor on New Year’s Eve night, when the chilly temperatures will bring with them the possibility of a rain and snow mix after 10 o’clock in the evening.
It is possible that we will be greeted by a small snowfall on Wednesday, 2025, as a result of the presence of cooler air and a moderate amount of precipitation.
The weekend brings high temperatures in the 20s and a growing likelihood of snowfall, which is a change from the seasonal warmth that we have been experiencing.
