Metro Detroit Weather Below-average Temperatures and Snow Showers Expected This Weekend

DDN – Metro Detroit is experiencing normal to below-average temperatures as January begins. Cold air is taking its proper position in the forecast.

Thursday evening will be largely cloudy, with a chance of some flurries. The low will be in the lower to mid-20s, with cooler temperatures on the west and north portions of Southeast Michigan. Westerly winds will gust to five to ten miles per hour.

Friday

Friday will be largely overcast, with lake-effect snow showers. Highs will range from the upper 20s to 30 degrees. Winds will be out of the west at 5 to 15 mph, with gusts reaching 25 mph.

Friday night will be largely cloudy, with the possibility of some flurries. Lows will range from 15 to 20 degrees.

Saturday & Sunday

Saturday and Sunday will be generally gloomy with the possibility of a few flurries and low temperatures. Morning wind chills will be in the single digits, with afternoon highs reaching the mid-20s.

Lions fans will want to bundle up. Low temperatures will be in the teens on Saturday and Sunday.

Monday

On Sunday and Monday, a system will bring wintry weather to the Ohio and Tennessee valleys.

There is a risk of snow on Monday, especially south of I-94. Otherwise, the weather will be generally cloudy.

The weather will be generally gloomy and cold throughout the week. Snow showers are expected again on Wednesday.
