Miami-Dade Rolls Out Annual “Presents for Pets” Holiday Donation Drive at Local Libraries and Animal Center

According to a Miami-Dade County press release, Miami-Dade County Animal Services and the Miami-Dade Public Library System have partnered for the fourth year in a row to launch the joyous Presents for Pets donation drive. The campaign encourages residents to give shelter pets holiday cheer by giving them toys, treats, and comfortable bedding. The drive begins today and lasts until the end of the year.

In a statement released by the county’s press release, Annette Jose, Director of Miami-Dade County Animal Services, said, “As you start your holiday shopping this season, we encourage you to consider adding a small gift for a shelter pet to your list.” Beginning on December 31, donations can be dropped off at the Stephen P. Clark Government Center’s Animal Services Pet Adoption and Protection Center.

The goal of these altruistic actions is to improve the daily lives of animals up for adoption. Accessible donation containers are also available at other library sites, including the Coral Reef Branch and the Coconut Grove Branch, according to the press release released today. Everyone in Miami who is willing is welcome to take part in this annual tradition. Miami-Dade County Animal Services, which is well-known for its unshakable commitment, cared for more than 15,000 homeless animals last year, worked with the community to facilitate adoptions, and vaccinated and sterilized numerous cats.

As a key partner in this effort, the Miami-Dade Public Library System has received numerous honors, such as being named a finalist for the IMLS National Medal for Museum and Library Service for the last two years and being named Library of the Year in 2024. The library’s official website has all the information about which libraries will have donation bins for the Presents for Pets campaign.
