(CBS DETROIT)Gas prices in Michigan have increased by 7 cents during the Thanksgiving weekend, according to a AAA survey released on Monday.
According to AAA, the average price of regular unleaded gasoline for drivers in Michigan is $3.08 per gallon, which is 11 cents less than it was a month ago and 4 cents less than it was a year ago.
Gas prices have somewhat dropped in Metro Detroit. The average price for drivers to fill up is $3.05 per gallon, which is about a penny less than it was last week and 12 cents less than it was at this time last year.
The average price of gas for a 15-gallon tank is $46, which is $12 less than what Michiganders were spending in August of 2023.
“Motorians in Michigan are now seeing higher prices at the pump due to a record-breaking number of travelers on the roads for Thanksgiving,” stated Howard Hughey, AAA’s Public Affairs Director. “If demands drops after the holiday, gas prices could possibly follow suit.”
According to AAA, Traverse City ($3.02), Detroit ($3.05), and Marquette ($3.07) have the lowest gas prices in the state, while Jackson ($3.15), Lansing ($3.15), and Ann Arbor ($3.15) have the highest costs.
