Michigan Home Split in Half by Falling Trees During Severe Storm

A home in southwest Michigan was destroyed by falling trees during this week’s violent storms, as seen in a dramatic new drone footage.

More than 400,000 utility customers were left without power Tuesday afternoon and evening as a line of severe weather swept over the state and the Great Lakes region. Torrential thunderstorms with hurricane-force wind gusts and tennis ball-sized hail caused havoc in certain regions of the Midwest.

The enormous tree can be seen in video taken by Nate’s Dronography after it destroyed a Union Pier house in Berrien County. The tree fell to the ground after smashing through the roof. Luckily, nobody was living there.

There was a Severe Thunderstorm Warning in force for the area, indicating that damaging winds of up to 80 mph could occur. 15 miles away, a wind gust of 66 mph was recorded.
